  • Audiences are all different types of people/public, therefore public relations professionals have to take that into consideration.
  • Diversity is the most significant aspect of the mass audience in the U.S.
  • Some of the biggest diversity groups to reach are: youth & young adults; baby boomers; and seniors.
  • Reaching different ethnic groups is crucial also.
  • Some of the emerging audiences are: catholic & evangelical groups; gay/lesbian community; disability community; and women.
  • It is extremely important to match the audience with the media. The PR professional must understand the types of media methods in order to select the correct media method for a particular audience.
